Please click on the tab to the right to see answers to a number of frequently asked questions about how our custom venturi products operate, what they can or cannot do, how they are made, where they can be installed, how they are maintained and further information on the services that we can provide.
Our eductors can be used with any fluid which displays Newtonian behaviour as long as the density is less than 2,000 kg/m3 (2 SG) and the viscosity is less than 100 Cp.
Changes in density and viscosity in the fluids change the performance of the eductor which needs to be compensated for in the design and dependent on the requirement may require a change in the motive condition.
It is possible to design venturi products for fluids of greater than 2,000 kg/m3 and 100 Cp but these will need to be carefully considered as they fall outside of our standard design models.
All of our venturi products can be made from any commercially available material dependent on the suitability determined by the application requirements.
Commonly used materials include:
Due to the custom nature of our products we predominantly look to fabricate but if the application or the quantity allows we can look to offer cast items instead.
As standard our products are designed to in house S.E.P standards or to the ASME VIII Div 1 pressure vessel code.
As all of our venturi products are installed into a pipeline system they are considered to be a 'speciality pipeline items' rather than a pressure vessel.
We design them as if they were pressure vessels with respect to internal / external pressure only because they are designed and tested in isolation. However as they are to be installed and operated as part of a pipeline system they should be considered as a pipeline item within the piping system as a whole for external loading and mechanical calculations.
Any eductor. ejector, and silencer, should be sufficiently supported and any loadings applied should be minimised to prevent any movement or distortion which would effect the eductor or ejector operation.
Using independent 3rd parties we can provide full FEA analysis of our designs and design to alternate codes as required such as PD5500 and ASME B31.3 piping code.
Dependent on your requirements and those of any design code, we can offer a full range of NDT including radiography, dye penetration and ultrasonic as well as PMI and impact testing.
All products are hydrotested prior to despatch.
While we do not have the facilities to performance tests for any of our products they are all designed to well establishment principles based on 15 years of industry experience, independent research and HEI standards.
If design / performance verification is required we can offer the independent 3rd party services of Wilde Analysis who will complete a CFD simulation and / or FEA analysis of our proposed design. The additional simulation / analysis will be offered at cost.
Alternatively we can look to supply a low cost prototype, in plastic for example, to allow you to conduct your own field trials before committing to purchase.
All venturi products can be installed within a pipeline wherever you require. With no moving parts and minimal maintenance requirements they can be installed in more difficult, hazardous or inaccessible places.
The only installation requirement that we insist upon is that they are not installed directly before or after any bends, valves or other obstructions. Ideally there should be a straight length of 10 x pipe diameters up stream of the venturi device and 5 x pipe diameters downstream of the venturi device.
This is to ensure a stable flow profile entering and exiting the venturi device to minimise flow disturbance and variation in the velocity and pressure values from those used in the design process.
Due to the custom nature of the applications and products Bamford and Morris will always look to include a safety margin within the design to account for any variation in the theoretical values in the RFQ and enquiry specifications and those found on site.
If precise control of the venturi product is required Bamford and Morris recommend the installation of control valves on both the motive and suction inlets so as to allow the operator to fine tune the venturi's performance.
With no moving parts and a fixed design there is very little maintenance required.
The operation of the eductor is designed for a specific duty which is controlled by the internal geometry and over time the eductor may wear or corrode, dependent on the application and the fluids involved, and these dimensions will change.
If a change in operating duty is noticed the nozzle, and or throat, should be removed inspected and if required replaced. Using replaceable parts improves the operating life of the eductor as a whole with eductor and ejectors having over 20 years of operating life not being uncommon.
All venturi products are manufactured for Bamford and Morris by our specified fabricators and depending on your requirements you can either arrange to collect your items directly (Ex Works) from their premises or they will arrange shipping directly to you.
All shipping will be on Incoterms 2010 terms via a recognised courier, DHL or TNT for example, with costs dependent on the size and weight of the products purchased and the final destination. All delivery charges will be confirmed at the time of order.
Being a custom product our venturi devices do take longer to design, manufacture and deliver than other off the shelf products. However Bamford and Morris will always work with you to determine a mutually acceptable lead time to ensure that your order is delivered where you want it and when you want it.
All items are guaranteed to be free from manufacturing / material defect for a period of 18 months from the date of shipment or 12 months from date of commissioning whichever is soonest.
Depending on the nature and size of project the payment terms can be adjusted to suit from 100% 30 days credit from despatch to stage payments against key project milestones.
Our terms and conditions of sale are available online under the Terms and Conditions tab or to download from the download section.
Depending on the amount of design work, the size and complexity of the requirement and the availability of materials quotations are usually issued within 1 - 2 weeks.
